At about 10:30 yesterday morning five Guns were fired from Stone Cutters Island when it was reported to me that a Single Ball was hoisted at the mast head, this being the signal for medical aid no action was taken by the Police.
Shortly afterwards I obtained a view of the Staff and satisfied myself that the signal was correct as reported. In rather less time than an hour afterwards two more Guns were fired when the signal then up was discovered to be "Convicts have escaped elsewhere".
